I feel warm and safe in your arms,
They won’t be around me one day.
I snuggle closer to you and breathe in your smell,
That’s gonna disappear and leave me in dismay.
I cherish the way your skin feels against mine,
I know one day it all will vanish away.
Your strong fingers pat my fears afar,
They won’t be there forever so, I wanna hold them now and play.
I know there comes a day when you will wanna go away,
I will have to let you go, I won’t have a say.
I have you now and I own you this moment,
I decided to make the most of it and cry another day.
I adore Ayn Rand, her ideologies and her novels. This is the best. The stage set up for this novel (Russia), how the conditions were and what people had to go through are explained in the best way possible. Kira is a very strong character who holds on to her beliefs and never gives in. I liked Leo in the initial part of the novel but seeing him losing himself by the end of the story, I didn’t approve of him. On the other hand, Andrei is very remarkable. I could not stand it to read about his suicide. Irina and Sasha were the two other prominent characters for me in the novel. I noticed that Ayn Rand has very strong opinions, she is kind of rebellious and she shoves the truth into the reader’s face hard and fast. What amazes me is her thoughts about love. I literally cried reading the departure of Irina and Sasha to the Siberian prison. It broke my heart. Last but not least, one person fighting against a whole country and not giving in until the last breath is very heroic and the hero of We the Living, Kira lives in my heart forever. I personally have a wonderful imagination (I’m not bragging about it) but when I read the lines written by AR, I see myself watching the whole scene with my very own eyes. That is the best I can put into words about how much I love her narration. Ayn Rand is a true legend! Her characters are very distinct, not like any regular hero, heroine.. even the villain is so remarkable, that you will fall in love with him.

The four walls of her heart try to contain as much void as possible but at times, it becomes too much to deal with. It rises to her throat trying to come out as a loud scream, but she manages to choke the sound just before the escape and shoves it back into the depths of the dark corners of her heart. She wanders down the crowded lanes hoping to ignore the buzz of the unsettled thoughts running through her mind. It never helps. She talks to people around her indifferently and plasters a smile on her lips that’s more plastic than ever. After coming home from work, she sits still in her dark bedroom staring at the empty walls listening to the ticking sound of the needles of the clock. She wonders if the time is dragging those needles or the needles dragging the time. Nevertheless, the night ends and the rays of the dawn creep through the window filling the room with a mild glow. She collects herself to get up from the cold bed, with her hair disheveled and her eyes hollow. Here comes, yet another day and she has to find a way to pull through her routine. And the lone girl makes her way through the door to face the world, and to exist!

No matter how well I water, my rose plant died,
My dream of a beautiful garden is shattered.
I read every single book I found but never graduated
My dream of education is shattered.
I gave 100% in the relationship but my heart is broken,
My dream of love is utterly shattered.
So much burden on my weak shoulders,
My dream of happiness is shattered.
Inspite of playing fair, I was cheated in the game,
My dream of victory is shattered
Everything I love is taken away from me,
My dream of dreaming is shattered.
Oh, what an empty life?

It’s Complicated is the first book from the series of Undeniable by Nikki Prince. The book was enjoyable. This is a story about friends who decide to go for a No Strings Attached relationship but end up falling head over heels in love with each other. Ashton, Keiko, Emmie, Royce, Aine, Darian, and Perry are very close friends from college days. Perry dies of cancer suddenly. Perry has always wanted Keiko to take her attraction for Ashton to next level but she never dared to pursue it further for the fear of ruining the friendship. After Perry is gone, Keiko decides that life is too short to live beating around the bush. She talks to her friends Emmie and Aine, and advises them as well to think about their interest in Royce and Darian, respectively. When Keiko talks about her attraction and her plan to seek a friends with benefits relationship, Ashton couldn’t say no since he is very much attracted to Keiko from the beginning. The relationship starts smoothly, they share a great chemistry and everything is fine. Just then, a jealous ex of Ashton comes along threatening Keiko to stay away from Ashton. In the meantime, Ashton and Keiko fall in love with each other deeply and decide to take it further. Though they face trouble from Ashton’s ex and her partner, they deal with it with the help of their friends and the story ends well when Ashton asks Keiko to marry him.
The story is very straight with no fuss. Its a cute love story of best friends. The friendship, love and jealousy are very well narrated by the author. There are few steamy scenes between Ashton and Keiko, which will leave you all hot and bothered. I had fun reading this book. I totally look forward to reading the next book from the Undeniable series.

I must say, this is the best play I read in my life. Bjorn Faulkner, Karen Andre and Lawrence Regan took my breath away. It is a play that takes place in a courtroom. It is not a huge story with too many incidents but a small one that leaves the whole scenario to the reader’s imagination. I’m impressed with Faulkner and Regan. Ayn Rand as always knows exactly what kind of men are needed in today’s world. They both were fearless, they get what they want, they rule the world and when it comes to love, they give everything. Karen’s love and devotion for Faulkner are beyond words. Regan is a gangster by profession but also knows how to respect love when he sees it. I’m always amazed at the kind of main male characters that Ayn Rand designs in her books. I wonder if such men do really exist in today’s world. Men who fear nothing, who have sky-high goals, who work for what they want, who refuse to bow to anyone, who crush the rules set by the so-called society and men who love beyond any kind of scale that is ever built in this world. Hats-off to Ayn Rand! She is the hero.

Falling for You by Becky Wade is a cute love story that also brings a hidden mystery. Willow, a successful model and Corbin, a famous NFL player who were once in love and broke up meet again through Charlotte who is determined to find her missing great-aunt from nearly 40 years. Willow and Corbin while helping Charlotte fall for each other all over again. Nora and Britt, Willow’s sisters, are super cool. Joe, Corbin’s father, is a completely another story. This is a story about love, guilt, heartbreak, misunderstandings, forgiving and rebuilding relationships. It is very well written. Almost all the characters are very strong – from the 12-year old Charlotte to 60-year old Josephine, everyone is determined. The story taught me to forgive and let go rather than holding on to past and hatred. The pace is perfect. I could not put it down till I read the last page. The people of Merryweather are amazing. The love for each other, the family bonding, and the support they show for their loved ones in the times of trial is narrated very well by the author. The characters brought warmth to my heart and I enjoyed the book thoroughly.
All in all, love, patience, forgiving always bring the fruit in the right time.

The Coffin Maker by Breeann Allison is alluring. First of all, the title is interesting and found it apt after I finished reading the book. The small town Gregor’s Hallow is just like a dream town I would wanna live. It’s quiet, away from fuss and Halloween celebrations in this town are just amazing. The way the author connected all the dots is very nice. Jesse Burns who had to take over his father’s coffin making business upon his disappearance, Death personified, the Gregorians, Robin, mysterious events at the time of Halloween, plague, Randall/Timothy and last but not the least coffins. The twist in this books is unexpected. I like how the author managed to share her views about universe, balance, life, death and the life in between. Personally, I enjoyed how coffins that carry a corpse are used to save lives. The pace is good and I enjoyed the book. If I didn’t have a preplanned travel in between, I wouldn’t have put this book down before I finished it in just 2-3 days.

The first adapted movie I watched was Harry Potter. I must tell you, though I enjoyed the visuals, I didn’t enjoy the movie as much as I enjoyed the book. After that, I watched few more movies that were adapted from famous novels. Not a single movie gave me the kick that reading the original book gave.
I was talking to my friend the other day about the same. He is a film maker and he agreed with me. I guess reading the book gives me the freedom of imagination while the movie only lets me see what the director wants me to see. Each person has a different perspective about everything. So, when I read a book, my imagination runs me wild and the smart brain of mine paints beautiful images that no director can show me in a movie.
Also, my film maker friend told me that when a book is going to turn into a movie, it goes through a lot of changes. The screen play changes a whole lot of the book to make it suitable for the making of the movie. I don’t think a 800 page novel can ever fit in a 90 minute movie. Don’t you agree? Imagine how much content is cut short to make it possible. And during this, the director might eliminate a scene because it seemed unimportant to him but it could be important to me.
The director might add plenty of commercial elements to make the movie a hit but it could ruin the basic essence of the story. I was reading Paulo Coelho’s The Aleph in which Paulo said he would never give the copy rights of his books to be made into a movie and he mentioned why. His views appeared a lot similar to mine.
A wise man said, “Never judge a book by its movie”. How true? I make it a point to read the book first and then watch the movie. I know it’s quite difficult in today’s busy world to read a book and that I believe is the major reason for the increasing number of movies adapted from books.
Personally, I will pick a book over a movie of its adaptation. Your views might vary. Please feel free to share them with me. Tell me what’s the movie you think did 100% justice to the original book.
